Fatherhood

Today I have been reflecting on fatherhood.

Jesus taught us to pray ..."Our father"

Jesus showed us how God is the perfect Father and also how he is the perfect son.

Today the world is lost, fathers don't know how to be fathers any more, sons and daughters just don't know how to be true sons and daughters either, where our our role models and our mentors?

I was only praying with my pastor today that none of us can truly walk in the presence of God with out knowing him as father and knowing our role as a child or his son / daughter. We only need to look to Jesus as our role model.

I say today that no matter how good or bad your upbringing was and is, no matter what your own father was or was not like, God is our perfect father, he is for us and not against us, he has good plans for us and wants us to know him as the perfect father.

All of us were and will always be some ones child, and none of us were perfect children, all of us were naughty in some way or rather, some of us were / are cheekier then others as well. It doesn't matter our past, God will allways accept us with open arms through his Son Jesus Christ and in return he will adopt us as his own children.

It is my prayer today that you will truly come to know the only living God as your real heavenly Father and accept what he has to offer you through his son Jesus.

What do you want?

I have been reflecting today about the time when Jesus asked the blind man who against all the odds continued to call out to him,

"What do you want?"
What a question to ask someone, what is the thing we all want to know, if God asked you, "What do you want?" what would you ask him for? Perhaps you need a miracle in your life, perhaps a need of assurance, or to fill the loneliness that is like a bit black hole in the pit of your soul. What is it you would ask for?
I think there is one question that all of mankind would ask, and that is this "What are we here for?" or to put the same question in another way "What is my purpose?"
I am blessed, I know my purpose in life, I know my God given calling and purpose in this life and it gives me great confidence and excitement knowing that I am here for a purpose.
The Apostle Paul prayed this same prayer for the Ephesians, he prayed,

Eph 1:18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
Eph 1:20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
God wants us to know our purpose for our lives, he wants us to know the hope that he has called us to, he wants us to know his incomparably great power in our lives today, and he is only a word and a prayer away.
God is calling us to himself, are you prepared to surrender your life to our living God and accept what his son Jesus Christ did for you on the cross, are you prepared to call a spade a spade and admit that indeed you are a sinful person, that sin just abounds in your heart even though you do your utmost not to think, say and do the things you do. If you are prepared to admit that to God and say God forgive me, help me, I believe that Christ died for me and has forgiven me, help me to live for you and not for myself, then you too will find and begin to walk in the calling and purpose that God has for your life, his purposes to bless you and not harm you, his purposes for you to find full contentment and not aimless living, a life of knowing what you are here for, instead of empty musings.
And this is only the beginning, our purpose on this earth is for us to enjoy God and all he had given us and for God to enjoy our company as well and as we walk with him, we will find him directing our paths.
I for one am one who knows my purpose in this life - do you know yours?

Spiritual Warfare

Today I have started a new topic on the Sydney Anglican Medias websight regarding Spiritual warfare and demonology. I am worried about the Christians and the church today being ill informed as to the relality of the spiritual realm in which we live and the fact that so many people live under bondage to the evil one and they just don't know how to be free or even worse praise God as if the bondage they are under is his will for their lives.

People need forgiveness, Jesus himself said to the religious leaders of his day, what is easier to say, you are forgiven or get up and walk, so that you know i do have the authority to forgive sins I say to the lame man get up and walk, and he did.

There are a lot of people in this world today who know they are under some form of oppression from the evil one and for many when they have turned to the chruch for help they have been frowned upon or told they need to see a shrink. Counselling will not help get rid of a demon, they love it, bringing up all the past hurts and discussing it, what is needed is for them to be kicked out.

It is my view and experience that when people do see God in action then they can actually believe that Jesus has indeed died and rose to life for them and that if they turn to him they will indeed recieve forgiveness for their sins and inherit eternal life.

The ministry of the early church was to set the captives free and the calling by God to that ministry has not changed at all, the only thing that has changed is the churches unbelief.
